THE CHALLENGE 

• Subject: JUXTAPOSITION - the act or an instance of placing two or more things side by side often to compare or contrast or to create an interesting effect.

• Guiding Question: HOW CAN MUTUALLY DISTINCT NOTIONS BE MANIFESTED AS ONE?

 

Artists are challenged to create three artworks in any medium, inspired by the subject and guiding question. Participating artists will be added to a challenge group chat on WhatsApp and will be encouraged to share and discuss their artwork throughout the challenge.

 HOW TO TAKE PART 

Artists interested in participating in this challenge should sign up via a google form. Each participating artist will then be added to the Whatsapp challenge chat. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

 THE TIMELINE ​​

• September 1 - Challenge Begins. A SiAC administrative team member will officially begin the challenge in the WhatsApp challenge chat and include further details as necessary.

• September 17 to January 15 2021 - Artists create 3 (or more) artworks related to the challenge subject and guiding question. 

  • Ongoing throughout this phase artists should share their process work in the WhatsApp challenge chat. Artists should post a weekly progress post every Sunday. This is intended to motivate ourselves and others to participate in the challenge and to promote creative discourse.

• January 15 2021 - Challenge Ends (with a possible exhibition in March 2021)
